Is it OK if it rains after treatment?

Rain is good for our products because it will help sink them into the soil. If we anticipate a light rain, we add a sticker to our weed control products so it doesn’t wash off the surface of the weeds. If heavy rain occurs within an hour of a treatment, we will automatically schedule a free weed touch up for the following week.

How long should I stay off the lawn?

Kids and pets should stay off the lawn for about 30 minutes.

How long do I need to wait until I can water?

Wait for at least 3 hours after treatment before watering your lawn.

For best results, we recommend watering the night/early morning after we treat your lawn. This is most important when we apply pre-emergents, moisture management, and Revive.

Can I mow after treatment?

You can mow anytime before a treatment and as soon as 3 hours after a treatment.

My lawn is suffering from heat stress. What can I do?

Check your sprinklers/run a manual test during the day and watch every zone to make sure that every section of your lawn is getting equally covered with water. Sprinklers should be checked monthly during the season. Heads often get damaged, blocked by objects or plants, and clogged with mud.

Some areas of your lawn may require more water than others. You may need to put a hose sprinkler in those areas for extra watering.

How should I water the lawn?

Your lawn needs about ½ inch of water each time you water because it needs to sink deep into the soil. Do not water every day. Instead, follow this rough schedule:

  • Summer – 3 times per week

  • Late Spring/Early Fall – 2 times per week.

  • Early Spring/Late Fall - 1 time per week.

You will need to adjust watering based on factors like sunlight and sprinkler head type. This guide provides more details.

Very important - In the summer, start watering around 2 am (unless your lawn has a lot of shade.)

Check your sprinkler system at least twice a year to make sure water is covering every area of the lawn adequately.

When should I seed my lawn?

Spring: May

Fall: September

What’s the best way to mow?

Cut the grass to 3 inches and don’t cut off more than ⅓ of the blades at a time. It’s important to cut the grass frequently.

“Mowing too short or scalping results in stress to the grass plant... Mowing too short can allow weed seeds to get more sun and increase the chance of germination.” - University of Michigan Extension

Be sure that the blades on your mower are sharp and clean. If you mow weekly and your mower is capable of mulching, leave the mulched grass clippings on your lawn.
